Jan Peneston: Executive Director
Jan Peneston is the Executive Director of the Camp Fire USA Central New York Council. Formerly, Jan Peneston was the full-time Camp Director at Camp Talooli for over 20 years. Jan is also on the Board of Directors as the Standards Chair of the Upstate NY section of the American Camp Association, which provides guidelines and industry standards for camps across the United States.
Kelly Peneston: Camp Director
Kelly Peneston is the Camp Director and coordinator of the Talooli Integration Program at Camp Talooli. Formerly, Kelly spent four years as the Boating Director and grew up at Camp Talooli as both a camper and a overnight counselor. Kelly is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith and has a Master's Degree in Education from UMass Amherst. Currently, Kelly is completing a PhD in School Psychology and is interning in the Liverpool School District.
Brian Vance: Assistant Camp Director
Brian Vance is the Assistant Camp Director, having joined the Talooli team in 2014. Formerly, Brian spent four years working at camps in New England as an outdoor educator and EMT for the Natures Classroom program. Brian also traveled to Australia to work on sustainable farms and communities. Brian is a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Recreation Management, and has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Antioch University New England.
Jeff Peneston: Program Director
Jeff Peneston is the Program Director at Camp Talooli and has held this position and many others at Camp Talooli for over 20 years. Jeff has been an invaluable resource at Camp Talooli and is well known by campers and staff for his vast knowledge and ability to hold large crowds captive. Currently Jeff is an Earth Science teacher for the Liverpool School District and The 2011 New York State Teacher of the Year. Jeff also spent the fall of 2009 on board the Swedish Icebreaker Oden, helping to do research during the ship's voyage through Antarctica.
Matthew Peneston: Assistant Program Director
Matthew Peneston is the Assistant Program Director at Camp Talooli. Matthew has been on staff for 12 years and has also grown up at Camp Talooli in various positions such as Waterfront Director, lifeguard and day camp counselor. Matthew is currently working as a certified EMT and pursuing a teaching degree at SUNY Oswego.
Crystal Donahue: CIT 3 Coordinator
Previously, Crystal worked as a the Nature Director, as well as a Day and Resident Camp Counselor. She was also a camper and CIT at Talooli for many summers. Crystal recently from SUNY Brockport with degrees in Inclusive Childhood Education, Psychology and Creative Writing. Crystal is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Curriculum at SUNY Oswego.
Lea Taylor: Waterfront Director
Lea has spent six summers working at the Camp Talooli waterfront and formerly attended camp as a camper and CIT. Lea is finishing her senior year at Skidmore College in the fall, working toward a degree in Psychology. She will be pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Syracuse University in the fall.
Aaron Murphy: Boating Director
This will be Aaron's fifth summer serving as the Boating Director at Camp Talooli, previously having worked as both a lifeguard and camp counselor. Aaron is also a key player in planning and implementing various aspects of the Camp program. Aaron grew up at Talooli, spending many summers as both a camper and CIT. He will be in his senior year of college at SUNY Geneseo in the fall.
