About Us

Camp Fire USA

Camp Talooli is owned and operated by Camp Fire USA.  Camp Fire USA is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit youth development organizations. Camp Fire USA, with national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., provides all-inclusive, coeducational programs in hundreds of communities across the United States. Founded in 1910, Camp Fire's outcome-based programs include youth leadership, self-reliance, after school groups, camping and environmental education and child care.

Serving youth from birth to 21, Camp Fire USA helps boys and girls learn - and play - side by side in comfortable, informal settings. Our coed programs allow parents to consolidate schedules for both their daughters and sons.

As the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the United States, Camp Fire USA takes pride in its long-standing commitment to providing fun programs and services to all children and families in America. We are inclusive, open to every person in the communities we serve, welcoming children, youth and adults regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation or other aspect of diversity. Camp Fire's programs are designed and implemented to reduce sex-role, racial and cultural stereotypes and to foster positive intercultural relationships. Camp Fire USA's mission is to build caring, confident youth and future leaders.

Camp Talooli

The local council of Camp Fire USA was founded in 1925 and Camp Talooli was acquired in 1945.  It has been serving youth, children, and families for over 65 years.

Camp Fire USA and Camp Talooli are accredited by the American Camp Association.  This means that we voluntarily invite an outside team of ACA trained visitors every 3 years to verify our compliance with more than 300 nationally recognized industry standards – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management and site and facilities management.

As a leading authority in youth development, ACA works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience. The association is committed to helping its members and all camps provide:

  • Camp communities committed to a safe, nurturing environment
  • Caring, competent adult role models
  • Healthy, developmentally appropriate experiences
  • Service to the community and the natural world
  • Opportunities for leadership and personal growth
  • Discovery, experiential education, and learning opportunities
  • Excellence and continuous self-improvement

In addition to the summer camp programs, Camp Talooli also offers the following programs annually:

SCHOOL BREAK CAMP

Monday through Friday, campers arrive by bus and car to enjoy a specialized camp program from 8:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.  Campers enjoy sledding down one of the camp’s many hills, creating art projects, playing games with other children, baking in the camp’s kitchen, and interacting with other campers and camp staff.  Campers for this program must be in kindergarten and be no older than 12 years old.

FAMILY CAMP

Camp Talooli also provides opportunities multiple times a year for families to spend time together outdoors, appreciating nature and taking part in a range of camp activities like boating, campfire cooking, fishing, arts and crafts, and much more. Family members work together to help prepare meals, take care of camp, and interact with other families. These opportunities are offered in the spring, summer and fall.
